About Emily Moniz
Emily Moniz is a resident of Westport, MA, a full-time Fashion Design student and part time retail associate for Gap Inc. She has always had a love for art in all forms, especially fashion. Anything “hands on ” has intrigued her from a young age, making something out of nothing, all with your hands was thrilling. Emily was a bit of an engineer at heart, from plumbing to electrical she was always solving problems and exploring the way things go together. She finally found her home in fashion design, utilizing her strong sense of curiosity and her desire to connect physicality to creativity in her work. Currently serving as the Vice President of the Fashion Club, Emily is a member of the Dean’s Council and has been awarded Dean’s list throughout her four years at the CVPA. Emily is a brilliant young artist who can’t wait to be part of the future of fashion, contributing to its never-ending expression.
Statement
Fashion is a way to reinforce an idea whether it be personal, social or political; it is a chance to speak on achievements or issues through a different perspective. I think it is important to always have an open mind when it comes to any form of art, especially fashion design due to its communicative nature. My goal as an artist and fashion designer is to shed light on the language of fashion, helping others see fashion as a verb rather than a noun, dynamic rather than static, as a way to fluidly communicate. Whether your ideas be about yourself or the world around you, it is your chance to make a statement.
