Exhibition of the BiH Visual Artist Amer Hadzic opened in Vienna

In the Atelier fur Angewandete und Bildende Kunst gallery in Vienna, a solo exhibition of the visual artist Amer Hadzicopened two nights ago.

In the exhibition entitled “Return to Innocence”, 28 works created in the past two years of the artist’s work were presented for the first time on the Viennese stage.

In his work, Hadzic skilfully combines classical painting with contemporary forms of street art and pop art. In his paintings, executed in the techniques of acrylic and oil on canvas, the dominant feature is the outline of a Bosnian house and old buildings, on which various interventions in the form of graffiti with surrealistic depictions of famous characters from cartoons and popular culture take place. In a sarcastic way, the artist talks about the combination of tradition and modernity, and about a time in which nostalgic escape from reality is a welcome preoccupation.

“I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to present my work under these circumstances in Vienna, one of the largest and most important centers of art and culture in the world. This is definitely a turning point in my work, which until now was based on more serious, existentialist depictions of an important and a close architectural construct, the Bosnian house. The new work is created in harmony with the times we live in, in which even high art does not take itself completely seriously and sarcasm exists as a mechanism of social depreciation. Sarcasm and a certain amount of cynicism that appear in the paintings according to my opinion, they clearly speak about the needs of today’s man and social norms in the time of fast information and short attention span,” emphasizes Hadzic.

Amer Hadzic is already an established Bosnian-Herzegovinian (BiH) artist who has presented his work at numerous exhibitions in BiH and abroad, and is the winner of several important awards. The artist emphasizes that this should be the beginning of the presentation of his work in the West, and that, accordingly, he expects another significant exhibition this year, Klix.ba reports.
