Head On Photo Awards represent an Australian and global selection of the best work from emerging and established photographers across three categories: Portrait, Landscape, and Exposure. All genres, interpretation and styles are eligible.
The innaugural Head On Exposure Awards reveal new perspectives. Photographers are invited to unleash their creativity and submit their most important work, of any genre, style, technique, or medium, beyond the Portrait and Landscape categories.
All photographs are judged anonymously to ensure that the work is selected solely on merit and not influenced by the photographer’s or subject’s celebrity. The judging panel comprises leaders in the Australian and international photography communities, representing curators, picture editors, photographers, educators and other industry professionals.

- Portrait Award | $5,000 cash + prize package
- Landscape Award | $5,000 cash + prize package
- Exposure Award | $5,000 cash + prize package
- $30 entry fee per image
- Open to all emerging and established photographers
- Portrait, Landscape, and Exposure Awards categories are open internationally
- Photographers under-25 recieve 50% discount
- Winners announced and exhibited at Bondi Beach in Head On Photo Festival 2023
