MITCHELL — The South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) is proud to announce the 10th Annual State Visual Arts Competition and Gallery, set to take place at the Ramkota in Sioux Falls.
This milestone event will bring together the artistic prowess of students from 36 schools across the state, featuring over 350 unique pieces that highlight the diverse and creative talents of South Dakota’s young artists.
This year’s gallery promises to captivate art enthusiasts and the general public alike, providing a display of the creativity and innovation present in South Dakot’s high schools. The free and open-to-the-public gallery aims to celebrate the accomplishments of these budding artists and offers an opportunity for the community to engage with and appreciate their exceptional works.

The gallery opening will be held Friday, March 15 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The gallery exhibition will be held Saturday, March 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
As a special addition to this year’s festivities, the first sanctioned State Art Wars competition will be held at the Ramkota on Saturday, March 16. This exciting event will showcase the competitive spirit of South Dakota’s young artists, allowing them to put their skills to the test in a friendly yet challenging environment.
The SDHSAA State Visual Arts Competition and Gallery has become a highlight in the cultural calendar of South Dakota, and this 10th edition promises to be an extraordinary celebration of artistic talent, collaboration, and creative expression. Attendees can expect to witness a wide range of mediums, styles, and techniques as students unleash their imagination and showcase their artistic abilities.
