Exclusive to VANDAL a 500 strong sell-out crowd witnessed the unveiling of ‘FUSION RULES’, the debut launch of internationally acclaimed visual artist Craig Black’s first solo exhibition in Australia.
The crowd cheered Black along as he delivered a captivating live art performance on a Formula 1 helmet for Red Bull Australia. The result was a one-of-a-kind ‘Acrylic Fusion’ work of art to be auctioned, raising money for Red Bull’s ‘Wings For Life’ Charity.
Says Black: “The energy and passion from the crowd was out of this world.
“I was locked in and in flow state as I was bringing the artwork to life for Red Bull Australia. With Fatboy Slim’s ‘Right Here, Right Now’ pumping, I had no idea what was happening around me. I was blown away when I saw the photos from the night.”
Says Sarah Widera, Scoop Communications: “Our strategic PR, comms, media and event management efforts saw media coverage across notable outlets including Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, Getty, Urban List and Sydney Weekender fuelled the buzz around the event, opening doors to exciting new brand partnerships for Black.”
Says Emile Rademeyer, executive producer, VANDAL: “The VANDAL X Craig Black partnership was an absolute showstopper. Watch this space…”
Black’s work has been celebrated and exhibited across the world: from London and New York to Dubai. And now all the way to VANDAL in Redfern.
From creating bespoke football artworks for the FIFA World Cup, a pop-up store for Porsche Taycan at the Battersea Power Station in London, to producing iconic basketballs with Wilson and the NBA. From the Champions League to creating iconic window displays with Vans, making beautiful packaging with Mucho, transforming a unique speaker system with Gallo Acoustics and creating a one of a kind custom bike frame for Ribble Cycles.
Titled ‘FUSION RULES’, the exhibition is inspired by the fusion of Australian sports, culture and art. Black utilises his signature style to create artworks from Aussie rules football, cricket and rugby to basketball, soccer, netball and many more. This exhibition will entice the biggest sports enthusiast to the avid art collector or brand partnership.
Black picks his collaboration partners carefully, as he looks for projects that align with and complement his style and ethos – ensuring that no two partnerships are ever the same.”
VANDAL’s doors are open and the exhibition will run until April 11th.
