HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – A new emphasis is being given to the visual arts during the annual FestivalSouth in Hattiesburg.
Several exhibits featuring different styles of art will be open to the public in the coming weeks.
Right now, an exhibit of traditional Southeastern Native-American baskets, clothing and other items are on display at the Library of Hattiesburg, Petal and Forrest County on Hardy Street.
The exhibit will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Walnut Room at 150 Walnut Circle in downtown Hattiesburg.
“I was very excited and happy, along with other artists, that FestivalSouth would like to include more visual art events and they asked me to organize some of those, so I was very excited with all the other artists that’re participating,” said Andrea Kostyal, FestivalSouth visual arts coordinator.
The festival will have more than 50 live music, theater, dance and art events in the Hub City through June 22.
