Visually impaired artist celebrates art in new Taubman Museum mural

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The Taubman Museum of Art is sporting a new mural near its entrance thanks to the talents of artist John Bramblitt.

Bramblitt has a unique story working as a visual artist despite being blind himself.

Here @ Home joined Bramblitt as he worked on the new project to talk about the power of art and how he is able to create beauty for others to enjoy.

He explained that he creates a different texture for his paints so he knows the colors he is using and feels that even though he is visually impaired he can now see colors more clearly than ever before.

Taubman Museum visitors have the opportunity to connect with Bramblitt next month at a variety of different events.

Starting on August 2 visitors can listen to Bramblitt talk. Then on Saturday August 3 people have the opportunity to register for a creativity workshop. There will be a workshop for both children and adults. The Taubman Museum asks that people register in advance.
