Fleet blessing
The Blessing of the Fleet will be take place Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Trinidad Bay Overlook. All are invited.
Mansion lighting
The official holiday lighting of the Carson Mansion will take place Friday at 6 p.m. at the corner of Second and M streets in Eureka.
For the benefit of the community, the Ingomar Club recently invested in a professional exterior lighting design that includes a dramatic and comprehensive scheme, including zone lighting with multi-colors.
This investment was underwritten by the Carson Mansion Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit formed in 2020. The mission of the Foundation is to insure the preservation of this historic landmark for the greater good of the community.
This lighting project is the largest project to date, and one that will be enjoyed by all. Additionally, QR codes are available on the cast iron fence that access the story and history of the mansion, the Carson family and the Ingomar Club.
Gallery celebrates
The Trinidad Art Gallery will celebrate 11 years as a local artist cooperative on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be snacks, wine, music — and some of the member artists will also be on hand.
The featured artists for November are photographer Jim Lowry and blown glass artist Matthew Gagliardi.

Marsh tour
Friends of the Arcata Marsh will sponsor a free tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday.
Everyone will meet leader Elliott Dabill at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute walk focusing on marsh history, ecology and/or wastewater treatment. This event is held rain or shine. For more information, call 707-826-2359.
Tour the marsh
The Redwood Region Audubon Society will present a free guided field trip at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Bring binoculars and meet trip leader Kathryn Wendel at the end of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata to enjoy easy-to-walk trails and the opportunity to view a diverse range of species. Shorebirds can especially be abundant at the marsh, so be on the lookout for avocets, sandpipers, yellow-legs, godwits, curlews and multi-species murmurations, as well as the waterfowl species that call the marsh home in the winter.
Wetlands workday
The Redwood Region Audubon Society will hold a Wigi Wetlands volunteer workday on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Volunteers are invited to help create bird-friendly native habitats and restore a section of the bay trail by removing invasive plants and trash. The trail section is located behind the Bayshore Mall and volunteers will meet in the parking lot directly behind Walmart.

Birding trip
Join Redwood Region Audubon Society and trip leader Ken Burton for a free birding trip to the North Spit jetty on Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The Humboldt Bay jetties are thrilling, if sometimes daunting, places to bird. They provide terrestrial access to the nearshore pelagic realm. Participants will hit the North Jetty at low tide in search of rock sandpiper and other specialties. Be prepared to walk about two level miles on slippery surfaces and some sand. Dance party
A dance featuring live music and a “great floor” is held Mondays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka. Admission is $9.
Business mixer
A free LGBTQ+ Professionals Networking Mixer will be held Nov. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Phatsy Kline’s Parlor Lounge, 129 Second St., Eureka.
This gathering provides an open and welcoming environment for all people of the LGBTQ+ community as well as friends, allies and business professionals who value diversity and inclusivity.
Winter concerts
A Company of Voices, co-directed by Dr. Elisabeth Harrington and Stacy Young, will hold winter concerts Dec. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, 636 F St., Eureka, and on Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, F and Del Norte streets in Eureka. (Tickets for the later concert are by donation, available at the door. The Arts Alive! event is free.)
Local singers and guest instrumentalists will be performing a variety of songs from Renaissance to vocal jazz.
Craft fair
The United Congregational Christian Church at 900 Hodgson St., Eureka, will be hosting a holiday craft fair on Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A variety of local crafters will showcase their items for sale. Baked goods will also be available to purchase. A chili lunch will be offered for a suggested donation of $5 and includes a corn muffin.
Quilters meet
The Redwood Empire Quilters’ Guild will meet Dec. 7 at the Humboldt Grange, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka.
Social time begins at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6 p.m. Guests are welcome. Games will be played during the meeting.
