16 artists will perform 16 of the group’s hits


Last year, the concert film Stop Making Sense of Talking Heads from 1983 was remastered in 4k through the production company A24 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the group.

Considered by critics to be the best concert film of all time, Stop Making Sense stars the main members of the band David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison With Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry and Edna Holt.

The live performance was filmed over three nights at the Hollywood Pantages Theater in December 1983 and features Talking Heads’ most memorable songs. Some shows that the group performed in support of their album Speaking in Tongues, which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200 that year. In 1984, the original soundtrack of Stop Making Sense it peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200.

The documentary was recorded with seven cameras by the acclaimed filmmaker Jonathan Demmeknown for films such as The silence of the lambs either Philadelphia.

The legendary American band, pioneers of the new wave and formed in New York in 1975, made their first public appearance in more than 20 years early last September when they gathered for a question-and-answer session at the Toronto International Film Festival for the film’s anniversary. The singer David, the bassist Tina, the drummer Chris and the guitarist Jerry were present there.

After re-releasing the tape, A24 is ready to continue celebrating the talent of the American rock band and yesterday officially announced the tribute album Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Stop Making Sense.

The track listing on this album will mirror that of the original LP, with fresh new covers from a variety of artists spanning all genres. The full list of artists appearing includes Paramore, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, The National, Teezo Touchdown, Kevin Abstract, Jean Dawson, Girl in Red, BadBadNotGood, blondeshell, The Cavemen., Chicano Batman, Money Mark, DJ Tunisia, He Killed a Motorized Police Officer, The Linda Lindas and Bull and Moi.

The album will include songs like Psycho Killer, Once In A Lifetime, This Must Be The Place or Take Me To The River. A24’s goal is to introduce Talking Heads’ music to a new generation of fans, as well as offer a new interpretation of their hit songs for their long-time fans.

Talking Heads’ music was known for its rhythm and adoption of world music influences. The band’s debut album, Talking Heads: 77, released in 1977. The LP established Talking Heads as one of the most exciting and original bands of the emerging new wave movement. Before the release, they were regular artists at the iconic CBGB club from New York.

As the years passed, Talking Heads continued to release increasingly critically acclaimed albums. His most notable releases were More Songs About Buildings and Food from 1978 and Remain in Light 1980. In addition to their music, the group was highly applauded for their live performances and their music videos. In 1991 the group dissolved due to the tensions between them.
