Artist Alley to showcase local art unveiled in Mineola

MINEOLA, Texas (KETK) – The City of Mineola has officially unveiled their new Artist Alley, a revolving exhibit that will showcase the creativity of local artists from across East Texas.

“A lot of the time people will find that galleries or museums aren’t exactly accessible. They may feel that they’re an outsider and don’t find their way into them. So by having street art, you aren’t having to go into that setting, you’re able to see all these things and you’re able to have, you know, the art that we’re needing and wanting to provide ourselves a better culture,” said Maclovio Cantu IV, assistant professor of studio art at UT Tyler.

The exhibit currently features installations created by 10 UT Tyler art students and their instructor, Cantu, along with Mineola ISD graphic design instructor, Aaron Cavitt and several MISD students.

The alley, which serves as a creative social media backdrop, runs west for two blocks from it’s start at Highway 69 across from the CVS.
