Artist to present ‘The Bible in Art’ at Perry Township church


• Berks County artist Jon Bond will present “The Bible in Art,” which will look at the fascinating stories behind famous paintings that depict Biblical scenes, during the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Zion’s Lutheran Church, 354 Zions Church Road, Perry Township. Included are DaVinci’s  “Last Supper,” Rembrant’s “Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee” and Van Gogh’s “Good Samaritan.”

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will offer a free drive-through, take-out meal today from 4:30-5:30 p.m. There will be a free concert by the Ringgold Band tonight at 7.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County, will hold a hymn sing service on Sunday at 9 a.m. led by Denise Hoffman. Coffee and Conversation will be held at 8:30 and 10 in the Welcome Center.

• The Explorers group at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Washington Township, will meet in the fellowship hall after the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday. The topic of Bible study and discussion will be “The Fruits of the Spirit.”

• St. John’s Gernant’s Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelanuee Township, will worship on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Memorial Hall. The service will be “Bring A Friend to Church.” All friends who attend will have their names included in a drawing for a special gift, and all friends will also receive a small gift. A special musical duet will be performed by Frances Merkel and Sondra Barth-Delp called “Bring a Friend.” Fellowship will follow the service with an assortment of food, punch and coffee. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., vesper services will be held in the pavilion; in case of inclement weather, it will be held in the Memorial Hall. Bring your own chairs.

• The following events have been scheduled at Rosedale Camp Grove, 1616 Vine St., Laureldale: today, breakfast, 7-11 a.m., all you can eat, $9, includes coffee; today, 4 p.m., God ‘N’ Country praise celebration, free will offering, food, fellowship and ice cream following the program, donation; Sunday, Teen Challenge Men’s Choir and testimony, 6:30 p.m., free will offering, ice cream following the program; next Saturday, breakfast, 7-11 a.m., all you can eat, $9, includes coffee.

• The Walking Group of United Church of Christ of Robesonia will meet next Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the walking trails of the Wernersville State Hospital campus, 350 Sportsman Road, South Heidelberg Township.

• Linda Sensenig will be the guest vocalist during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 170 Tuckerton Road, Muhlenberg Township.

• Zion Lutheran Church, 300 W. High St., Womelsdorf, will be having a patriotic music
program presented by piano students of Debbie Pyle, the director of music, during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Light refreshments will be provided following the service.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will host a free concert by the Ringgold Band tonight at 7. A free drive-through take-out meal will be provided today from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

• Huff’s Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Hereford Township, will hold a church picnic today from 4-8 p.m., rain or shine. Food and baked goods available after 4. Music by the Majestics 5-8 p.m. Free children’s activities (10 and under). Bring lawn chairs.

In order to have an event listed in the religion digest, it must be something that is not just a regular worship service.
