WESTERLY, R.I. — Art enthusiasts are gearing up for an exceptional showcase this month as The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly (ACGOW) opens its doors for the 29th annual Regional Art Exhibit, drawing artists and visitors from across the Northeast.
This vibrant exhibition, which runs through April 28, is one of the year’s biggest events at ACGOW, embracing extensive diversity with 254 artworks included.
“Our regional exhibit is looked forward to by artists who submit their work and art lovers who attend this month-long show,” said Linda King, co-chair of the 2024 Regional Art Exhibit. “We have gained a reputation for professionalism and unique artwork from the region.”
King noted that the preparatory work began in January, with both volunteers and committee members investing considerable time in receiving, organizing and preparing the submissions for the juror’s selection process for the exhibit.
This year’s juror is Ben Anderson, who is the department head and associate professor of three-dimensional art and sculpture at the University of Rhode Island. He reflected that sometimes the most challenging part is letting go of all rational thought and allowing the piece to be.
