Audiomack adds ‘Sponsored Songs’ paid promo tool for artists

Music service Audiomack is launching a new way for artists to promote their music: by paying for it to be inserted into the listening queues of people who might like it. The tool is called ‘Sponsored Songs’ and involves targeting listeners by location and genre, with Audiomack’s recommendation algorithm then applied to match tracks with people’s tastes.

Audiomack has been testing it out with some artists already, and says that musicians who invested $50 in campaigns in July “experienced a substantial uplift in their metrics. The median increase in engagements reached 39%, translating to notable gains in downloads, playlist additions, likes, and re-ups”.

The new tool is also being pitched as an above-board alternative to buying streams from dodgy third-party services. “Paying for black market ‘streams’ can lead to the removal of your music and the loss of access to your artist profile. It’s just not a viable long-term strategy,” said EVP of global operations Brian Zisook.
