A new exhibit, Black Artists in America, highlights African-American art during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.

BENCH IN 2002. RIGHT. NOW, SACRAMENTO’S CROCKER ART MUSEUM THERE IS A NEW EXHIBIT THAT EXPLORES AFRICAN AMERICAN ART DURING THE LATE 50S, 60S AND 70S. IT’S CALLED BLACK ARTISTS IN AMERICA FROM CIVIL RIGHTS TO THE BICENTENNIAL. IT FEATURES MORE THAN 50 WORKS OF ART. IT ILLUSTRATES THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT AND HOW IT PROGRESSED. ACTIVISM IN THE 1960S, AND THE FIGHT FOR GREATER RECOGNITION AND RIGHTS IN THE EARLY 1970S. SOME OF THE NAMES ARE HOUSEHOLD NAMES LIKE ROMARE BEARDEN, ALMA THOMAS, BETTY SA, WHILE OTHERS ARE.
