Call for applications from artists and craftspeople for funding for small-scale arts projects

The Government of the Northwest Territories is now accepting funding proposals for the Small Arts Project Grant for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

The grant provides up to $5,000 to emerging to mid-career artists, craftspeople, and small groups to cover costs for small-scale arts projects (e.g., traditional apparel, paintings, etc.) such as art supplies (e.g., beads, thread, furs, etc.) studio fees, illustration and design costs, and artistic development. Learn more about the expenses covered by this grant here.

This grant supports a wide range of arts activities, including creation, production, presentation, training, and artist development in dance, digital art, fashion, literary arts, media arts, multidisciplinary art, music and sound, artistic development, theatre arts, and visual arts and crafts.

Funding is allotted to the six regions represented by the NWT Arts Council (North Slave, South Slave, Dehcho, Beaufort Delta, Sahtu and Tłı̨chǫ) based on population. This is designed to support emerging to mid-career artists and craftspeople in small communities in accessing support for their artistic activities and projects.

The deadline to apply is February 28, 2024.
