Dates for 2024 Artalicious Fine Arts announced for Sept. 21, 22

ADRIAN — Dates for the 17th annual Artalicious Fine Arts Fair that encompasses nearly all of downtown Adrian’s streets over the course of two days in the fall have been announced.

Artalicious 2024 will be Sept. 21-22, which is the first day of autumn. Festival hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sept. 21 and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 22. Both days are a Saturday and Sunday.

In preparation for this year’s arts festival, the planning committee for Artalicious is seeking artists of all mediums who wish to apply for participation. Artalicious is a juried fine arts fair.

The application window opens on Feb. 26, which is the last Monday of February, and closes June 7. Artists can apply and submit their profiles online through Zapplication.org. Entries will be juried and announced in mid-June, a news release from Artalicious and the city of Adrian said.

“You don’t want to miss out on this outstanding event,” Don Taylor, chairman of the Artalicious planning committee, said in the release. “We’ve been working hard to make Artalicious the premier small-town fine arts fair in the region.”

More than 60 artists were part of last year’s 16th annual edition of Artalicious including several Adrian-based artists and some from Blissfield, Britton and Riga. The fine arts fair has become a staple event for southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio.

In addition to artwork such as painting, jewelry, wood, glass, sculpture and pottery, Artalicious also strives to showcase other art forms including live music, staged shows and hands-on activities for kids and adults.

Established professionals and new artists are encouraged to apply. Event organizers also will work with art students to assist them in showcasing their up-and-coming talents.

“Artalicious is a great addition to your schedule,” Nancy Weatherby, a member of the planning committee, added in the release. “We’re a juried fair with professional standards, committed to keeping booth fees reasonable. Whether you are a long-time exhibitor or new to art fairs, you will find a fun, friendly environment at Artalicious.”

When Artalicious turned 15 years old in 2022, and because of its continued success as an annual Adrian event, the city of Adrian recognized the fine arts fair with high praise and gifted Taylor with a city-issued proclamation for his work as the committee chairman for more than one decade. The proclamation stated Artalicious’ focus is to expose, excite, educate and encourage appreciation and participation in a variety of art forms and cultural activities, adding Taylor “has worn many hats in the process including organizing, fundraising, recruiting volunteers, grant writing and so much more.”
