Five things to do: Dance along with Elvis, Jimmy Buffett rtibute artists at Lexington events | Entertainment


Whether it is Elvis or Jimmy Buffett tribute artists you want to watch perform, you can do it in Lexington this weekend.

Check out these events and three more in Five Things To Do this weekend in Davidson County.

1. Tribute to the King

The third annual NC Tribute to the King will take place over three days in downtown Lexington. A variety of Elvis tribute artists will compete for first, second and third place along with cash prizes. The first-place winner will be granted an opportunity to compete at the 2024 Elvis Week in Memphis and its world-renowned competition. Headliner shows with Elvis tribute artists will take place on the evenings of April 26-27, followed by a special Elvis Gospel Celebration show on Sunday. 2. Wine-A-Ritaville: Jimmy Buffett tribute

All Parrot Heads, mark your calendars for a local performance from 6-10 p.m. April 27 by by the Party Parrott Band, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, at Childress Vineyards. Clear bags only are allowed, and you must be at least 21 years old. No pets allowed. General admission tickets are $25 in advance and will increase in price the day of the event. Lawn chairs or blankets welcome. No refunds, and the event takes place rain or shine. Tickets are also available that include reserved table seating. Childress Vineyards is at 1000 Childress Vineyards Road in Lexington. Visit the vineyards’ website to purchase tickets in advance.

3. Hot dog fundraiser

Come hungry to Davidson Preschool beginning at 11 a.m. April 27 for the school’s annual fundraiser, the Hotdog Hoedown. Meals that include two hot dogs, a drink, chips and dessert will be sold for $6. There will also be bounce houses, face painting, vendors and music. The preschool is at 2791 W. Center St. Ext.

4. Celebrate first responders

On Saturday, April 27, Holly Hill Memorial Park will host its Holly Hill Celebration of First Responders at The Finch House in Thomasville. The event will take place from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are free for first responders and a guest, but you must register for tickets by emailing megan@hollyhillcemetery.com. The night will include dinner, cash bar and music by DJ WeaponX. The Finch House is at 17 E. Main St. in Thomasville.

5. Military Vehicle & Collector Show

Denton FarmPark will host a Military Vehicle & Collector Show April 27-28. The event will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 daily for adults and $5 daily for children ages 7 to 12. Ages 6 and younger are admitted free. Camping is available on-site for an additional charge. Rides on the Handy Dandy train are also available for an additional cost. Military tanks, motorcycles, Jeeps, trucks and amphibious vehicles will be on display. Explore the swap meet and gun show areas, participate in daily events such as convoy rides and shoot a machine gun, as well as experience a Huey or Cobra helicopter ride. Denton FarmPark is at 1072 Cranford Road, Denton.
