Good News: How This Group of Local Artists are Changing the Narrative of Break Dancing

Honolulu (KHON2) – 808 Breakers  have a passion for hip hop, music, and Hawaii that can be expressed through breaking. They strive to be the best we can in order to serve the community with the many things that have come with the practice of the art form

808 Breakers, is a group of break dancers that consists of 17 active members, that have grown into a space where we are not just competitors and performers, DJs, emcees, artists, musicians, videographers, and event organizers.

“We really want to advocate for breakdancing to be seen as an artform and vehicle for youth in communities to self-actualize, express, and come together,” says Boaz, “Bo” Rosen, Organizer and emcee of 808 Breakers.

808 Breakers will host a free event at Thomas Square on July 27th and 28th for Guests will be able to connect to weavers, painters, story tellers, dancers, and everything in between at this event. For more information, visit their official website.
