Kansas City seeks artist for new City Hall art project

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City is looking for a talented artist.

The City announced Friday it is seeking an artist to create a piece for the southwest corner lawn of City Hall grounds.

In a project funded by the City’s One Percent for Art program, the art piece will be part of a process that will renovate the City Hall parking garage. The project is scheduled to be complete in July of 2025.

The City said the artist tasked with creating a piece will have it placed adjacent to the statue of Abraham Lincoln and his son, Tad, that sits there now.

Kansas City said a preference will be given to artists based in the Kansas City area and the selected artist will be provided a $140,000 budget to cover all aspects of design, fabrication, transportation, installation and lighting of the artwork.

An application deadline is set for Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. A virtual Q&A for any other questions will be held Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26. You can join those meetings here.
