Kentucky native, drummer for artist Jelly Roll to perform on New Year’s Eve show | News

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A drummer from Mount Washington will be on one of the biggest stages this New Year’s Eve, performing during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

Cody Ash is a drummer for rapper and singer Jelly Roll, who he joined on tour after the pandemic.

The big stage isn’t new for Ash. He’s also performed at Louder Than Life in Louisville and on “The Tonight Show.”

“I shared New Year’s with my grandma every year, and so it was, it was cool to be able to tell her that like ‘Hey, I can’t do this this year, but if you watch TV, I’ll be there,'” Ash said. “So we’ll be, yeah, it’s just, it’s really cool. I’m very, very grateful.”

Ash is a 2011 graduate from Bullitt East High School, where he played baseball, football and was in the band.

“Those small town kids that get told that music is just nothing but a dream, it’s a dream but it’s accomplishable, you can get it,” he said.

Ash isn’t sure what time he’s performing Sunday night, but thinks it’ll be around 10 p.m.
