Local artists part of Old Market exhibition

The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery in Omaha’s historic Old Market will open a new month-long exhibit with three of its local distinguished artists on Wednesday, May 1.

“Out of Our Minds” will showcase the visioning talents of Cindy Rae Mathiasen of Council Bluffs, Duane Adams of Griswold and Jasmine Greenwaldt of Omaha.

An opening reception at the gallery hosted by the three artists will be held on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., according to a news release. Admission to the gallery at 405 S. 11th St. is free, and art will be available for purchase.

The exhibit runs through May 31. The release states it offers a “compelling exploration of the boundless possibilities of artistic expression with a rich diversity of styles and themes.”

Mathiasen offers a fresh perspective on the natural world. She blends realism with elements of fantasy and whimsy, including abstract expressionism informed by nature. Mathiasen’s works evoke a sense of wonder while inviting viewers to rediscover the magic and beauty of the world around them.
