Meet Two Young Artists: Opening Reception for Exhibit by Lisa Acherkan and Kenna Gage

Opening reception on Saturday, June 8, from 1-3 p.m. at The ArtiFactory gallery for a new exhibit featuring work by Lisa Acherkan and Kenna Gage, two young local artists having their first shows.  A recent high school graduate, Lisa’s many influences include Japanese animation and the animated series Arcane. That show’s style inspired her to pursue the goal of becoming a professional artist.  Lisa has been accepted to the School of Visual Arts for 3D Animation and Visual Effects in New York City where she hopes to develop her skills and creativity to one day inspire other young artists.

Kenna Gage works mainly in sketchbooks, which allows her to bounce between different styles and mediums (favorites being watercolor, charcoal, chalk pastel, and inks) in order to complete pieces without a fear of “messing up.” She takes inspiration from music, mainly the 2010s hipster and 1990s grunge scenes, and films of the Czech New Wave. Currently, Kenna teaches art classes at Maroger Fine Arts in Coralville, and this summer she’s going abroad to study art in Prague, Czechia (Czech Republic).

The two-person show will run through June.  The ArtiFactory gallery is open Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. or by appointment.  Admission is free.
