New Age | ‘Silent Art Auction’ promotes Bangladeshi women artists

An art exhibition and auction aiming to raise funds for non-profit organisations supporting women’s and children’s programmes in Bangladesh was held at the Gulshan Club on Friday.

The event titled ‘Women in Art: Silent Art Auction & Reception’ showcased artworks of renowned and emerging Bangladeshi women painters, sculptors, and photographers.

It was organised by the Dhaka American Women’s Club with the support of Artsense. 

The event featured 35 artworks by 28 artists comprising paintings, prints, digital art, photography and sculptures.

It was curated by the DAWC secretary Rumana Habib.

Women artists Afrozaa Jamil Konka, Antora Merukh Azad, Asma Akber, Azizee Fawmi Khan, Farzana Rahman Bobby, Gulshan Hossain, Habiba Akhter Papia, Ivy Zaman, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Kuhu, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, Mini Karim, Monica Jahan Bose, Mukti Bhowmik, Nusrat Jahan Nazlee, Omi Islam, Paddmini Chakma, Preema Nazia Andaleeb, Riturupa Talukder, Rokeya Sultana, Sabrina Shaheed, Samia Rashid Hai, Shakirun Nahar Kanon, Sharmin Akhter Lina, Shruti Gupta Kasana, Suborna Morsheada, Tasmina Khan Majles and Vinita Karim participated in the event.

It also featured a panel discussion participated by the co-founder and president of the Samdani Art Foundation and director of Dhaka Art Summit Nadia Samdani and co-founder of Brihatta Art Foundation Nusrat Mahmud. It was moderated by Lesley Ahmed.
