The Carnegie Arts Center will be opening a new exhibit of works by regional artists in the Lobby Gallery with a free reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 10. The annual exhibition, Farms & Fields, is a juried, all media show that celebrates the variety and importance of agriculture in the Central Valley.
Artists from throughout Northern and Central California submitted work that is influenced or inspired by the agricultural life of the Central Valley. Fifty-one works by 38 artists were selected, representing 17 different regional communities. Juror Ben Serpa, an artist and Art Department faculty member at Merced College and CSU Stanislaus, selected these works from 142 submissions.
The exhibition includes paintings, photographs, prints, drawings, watercolors, mixed media, pastels, ceramics, woodworking, digital media, and fabric arts. Subjects include field crops, orchards, farm equipment and buildings, livestock, irrigation, the people who work in agriculture, and more.

The exhibition will run through July 27. The Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission to the Lobby Gallery is free. The Carnegie is located at 250 N. Broadway, Turlock.
