‘Other-Worldly’ drawing exhibition features 9 artists | Our Campus

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.– Westminster College’s Foster Art Gallery is currently hosting a drawing exhibition, “Other-Worldly,” which presents experimental, traditional and multimedia drawings that explore how the mystical and spiritual can be captured within art. The exhibition runs through March 1.

Curated by Westminster art faculty member Paige Stewart, this national exhibition features the works of nine artists from seven states and complements both the Foundation Drawing and Drawing Exploration courses offered at Westminster College this spring.

Artists featured include Lisa Devore of Virginia; Ronald Gonzalez, Miriam Kurman and Gary Sczerbaniewicz of New York; Susanna Herrmann of Utah; Liza Lynch Massachusetts; Ellen Petruzzella of Ohio; Leeann Rae of Florida; and Rachel Ryan of Connecticut.

“Drawing can be an act of putting a line on paper to create form or a record of a meditative or ritual practice. Shape, color, light, space and line used harmoniously together evoke emotion that can capture the human soul,” said Stewart. “In a period where information is at your fingertips, this exhibition aims to bring a child-like curiosity of magical whimsy back into the world.”

The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Foster Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
