Peoria Makers Art Market lets artists show off their work

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — More than a dozen vendors came out for the 2nd Peoria Makers Art Market. At the Friendly Valley Tavern in Peoria, artists showed off all their goods on the outdoor lawn without having to pay a vendor fee.

Ranging from jewelry to artwork and woodworking, the free event is meant to showcase local artists and their work.

Co-host Meg McGinn said the idea behind the market comes from holding an artwork yard sale.

“He posted on Facebook to his artist friends, if they wanted to have a yard sale in his yard to sell their art, and then he got a lot of responses. So he asked our friend Sean if we could have it here (Friendly Valley Tavern). And the first one last month we had like four or five venders, and with the early posting of the second one, we had way, way bigger response,” said McGinn.

The next market will be held on August 18 at the Friendly Valley Tavern.
