On Friday, May 3, the Ridgefield Art Association held its Artists Reception and Awards Ceremony at the Ridgefield Community Library for the first members-judged art show in 10 years.

According to a press release, the event was successful and showcased 53 pieces of original artwork from 31 local artists.

Ken Spurlock won Best of Show for his abstract art “Contemplation,” and Rose Jubb won the People’s Choice award for “Waiting for the Fire.” Other awards were the Mayor’s Award, the Ridgefield Main Street Award, the Port of Ridgefield Award and the Ridgefield Community Library Award, all presented by Ridgefield Art Association President Maureen O’Reilly and board member Teri Corle.

“We believe that to nurture a growing artistic community, there needs to be opportunities for artists of all levels to express themselves,” according to the press release.

The art work will be in the Ridgefield Library through July.
