Sharon Playhouse Announces Appointment of Six Teaching Artists


The Sharon Playhouse is delighted to announce that we have added six incredibly talented teaching artists to our team. Each of these individuals brings a wealth of experience, passion, and creativity to our educational programs, and we’re confident that they will inspire and empower our students to reach new heights in their artistic endeavors.

Please join us in welcoming our newest teaching artists:

  1. Tricia DeSario (Movement for Munchkins) – A dancer and early childhood educator who has performed at Paper Mill Playhouse, Signature Theatre, and in the national tour of 42nd Street.
  2. Patrick Dougherty (Creative Theatrics and Acting 101) – A teaching artist with Missoula Children’s Theatre and Ancram Center for Performing Arts who runs his own company, Definitely Human Theatre, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
  3. Beckie Wallace (Music for Munchkins and Singing 101) – A music director and accompanist who works with theater companies and choral groups all over the tri-state area.
  4. Georgina Bates (Creative Movement and Dancing 101) – A choreographer and dancer with credits in NYC and all over the world.  Georgina holds an M.F.A in Dance from the Tisch School of the Arts (NYU), and a B.A. in Theatre Performance from Marymount Manhattan College. 
  5. Ricky Oliver (Studying the Scene) – The former Chair and Coordinator of Actor Training at The Hartt School, prior to becoming the Director of Theater at the Trinity-Pawling School.  Ricky holds an MFA from the Brown University/Trinity Rep Acting Program and a BFA in Music Theatre from the University of Hartford’s Hartt School Theatre Division. 
  6. Julie Retzlaff (Playwriting) – An independent writer, playwright, and teacher whose work has earned her support from Ensemble Studio Theater, Primary Stages, New York Theatre Workshop, as well as the Will Geer Theatricum “Seedlings Play Development Program”.

These six join Andrus Nichols, Drew Ledbetter, Kimiye Corwin, Michael Kevin Baldwin, Sarah Cuoco, Caroline Kinsolving, Jenna Leigh Miller, Jacob Carll, Duncan Stewart, and Carl Andress in bringing you an incredible list of offerings this Spring.
