Sister Cities announces Young Artists and Authors Showcase

Once again, Tacoma Sister Cities invites young artists and authors to delve into the pressing challenges of climate change and its profound impact on cities. This year’s theme encourages students to unleash their creativity and showcases the transformative power of resilient cities that can adapt and flourish in the face of a changing climate.

Entries may be submitted in one of six categories:

·

Art – Classic Medium

·

Photography

·

Written Word-Poetry

·

Written Word-Prose

·

Digital Art

·

Original Music

The rules and awards have changed from previous years. This year, entries will be accepted by age:

GROUP A – 13-15 years old              First Prize: $100

GROUP B – 15-18 years old              First Prize: $200

NOTE: There must be a minimum of three (3) entries for a category to qualify for a cash prize

Young people from all Tacoma sister cities are urged to enter. In the first three years, Tacoma Sister Cities have received entries from Kitakyushu, Japan, Boca del Rio, Mexico and Fuzhou, China. Although the international entries do not compete with Tacoma students for cash prizes, the best five international (sister city) entries in each category will enter the Sister Cities International YAAS and be eligible for SCI cash prizes.

The schedule for this year’s YAAS is as follows:

April 5: Tacoma Entry Deadline

April 15: Judging results to Category chairs

April 17: Winning entries selected; winners notified

April 23: Awards Ceremony
