SOLON SPRINGS — The students at Solon Springs Elementary and Montessori have been learning about neutral colors, value and texture.
The 4K and Children’s House 4K students are making ice cream cones using lots of mixed media materials to create texture and visual interest. They are so cool!
The Children’s House kindergarten and traditional kindergarten are learning about neutral colors. They created adorable owls.
The first and second graders are also learning about neutral colors. They created these reindeer with neutral colors. They also learned how to draw a reindeer.
The third and fourth graders created ombre feathers. They were learning about value, using tints and shades of blue. These are so fun!
The Montessori E1 students are just starting a texture project. They are learning about the pop artist Jim Dine. They are creating hearts using a variety of techniques and materials to create texture in their work. I can’t wait to see them finished.
The fifth graders and Montessori E2 students both created Egyptian self-portraits using only natural colors. The fifth graders learned how to draw a profile self-portrait. They also wrote their names using hieroglyphs. They all turned out fantastic.
Becky Semborski is the elementary art specialist at Solon Springs School.
