Summer concert series reveals Billboard artists for Delaware lineup

Rocking The Docks is looking to create a mini earthquake in Lewes this summer with 17 booming concerts, including Billboard artists, making this year’s lineup its biggest yet. 

All shows go on sale Friday, March 28.

The 17 shows will be held over 11 weeks at the Lewes Ferry grounds at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal.

Arguably the two biggest shows of this year’s concert season are the Philly rock band Low Cut Connie and The Amish Outlaws, a cover band that wears Amish outfits. Some of the members grew up Amish before deciding to leave their community to live the secular world and play instruments. While Low Cut Connie is more famous than the Outlaws, the Amish crew is wildly popular downstate.

“This year’s lineup is our most impressive to date, featuring Grammy-nominated bands, Top 10 Billboard artists, and acts with more than 300 million combined streams online,” concert producer Matt VanBelle said in a statement about Rocking The Docks, which enters its third season this summer.

A variety of bands will storm the Docks this summer, from funk to jam bands and blues to rock tributes performing live on the water.

Additionally, concerts on Sunday, June 8 and Thursday, July 17 will feature two special benefit shows:

• The Funsters will perform in support of The Fourth Street Preserve, a local green space that’s in partnership with The Greater Lewes Foundation: Sunday, June 8.

• Yacht Lobsters will headline a feel-good night that benefits Unlocke The Light Foundation, promoting youth mental health and suicide prevention: Thursday, July 17:

• The Breakers deliver a spot-on tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Wednesday, June 11.

• Low Cut Connie has had the attention of Rolling Stone for years: Thursday, June 12.

• The Amish Outlaws have a story of selling out shows at the Docks: Wednesday, June 25.

• Bruce in the USA kick will launch Fourth of July weekend with this popular tribute to Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band: Wednesday, July 2.

• The Record Company is a Grammy-nominated trio that’s coming back to the Docks: Wednesday, July 9.

• *North Mississippi Allstars is a mix of Delta blues meets legendary Southern rock: Thursday, July 10.

• Yacht Lobsters recently gigged at the Rusty Rudder. Now they’re bringing their smooth rock to benefit Unlocke The Light: Thursday, July 17.

• Ivan Neville & Friends + Cris Jacobs Band offers a night of soulful grooves and New Orleans royalty meets Baltimore blues-rock brilliance: Wednesday, July 23.

• The California Honeydrops dish up R&B, soul, funk and New Orleans jazz blended together: Wednesday, July 30.

• The Heavy Heavy is back after a breakout performance in year one: Wednesday, Aug. 6.

• Galactic featuring Jelly Joseph offers New Orleans funk legends with big brass energy and soulful vocals to match: Thursday, Aug. 7.

• Kelly Bell Band’s 30th Anniversary Tour with Lower Case Blues and Sweet Leda features a blues-funk-soul celebration as Kelly Bell Band toasts 30 years, along with help from First State beach legends Lower Case Blues, plus the powerhouse vocals of Sweet Leda: Thursday, Aug. 14.

• Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe is what happens when funk, soul, jazz, and jam collide in one big cosmic groove machine: Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Season passes are on sale now. All shows on sale Friday, March 28, while select shows on sale now. All kids under age 12 get in free. Each show will also feature a little festival atmosphere with local food trucks, craft vendors, and family-friendly fun right on the Lewes waterfront.
