“Teaching Artists,”  a mixed media exhibition, will open at the Aspen Chapel Gallery, on Wednesday, May 29, with a reception for the artists from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The show runs through July 5.

The show is in partnership with the Teaching Artists Program at the Aspen Art Museum and 10% of sales goes to the program. Annie Bell, the show coordinator, said in a press release, “I am very excited about this show featuring 9 artists from the valley.”

Teaching Artists is a new program at the Aspen Art Museum this year. The purpose is to establish a dialogue between artists and educators in the Roaring Fork Valley. The program invites artists wanting to expand their practice through an educational framework and connects them with artists and educators with teaching experience.

“This a substantial new initiative by the Aspen Art Museum involving local artists and we are excited to be exhibiting their work. Please join us for the opening, greet your friends and neighbors, and congratulate the artists,” said Michael Bonds, co-director of Aspen Chapel Gallery, in a prepared statement.

Participating artists include Curt Carpenter, Julie Grimm, Christie Helm, Annie Henninger, Linda Loeschen, Sue Martin, Erin Morrison, Stephanie Woods, and Bell.  This is the 251st consecutive exhibition since the Gallery opened 39 years ago.

The Aspen Chapel Gallery is located in the Aspen Chapel, off the roundabout. For more information, call Gallery Co-Directors Tom Ward, at 970-925-8367, Bonds, at 970-925-6083, or the Aspen Chapel at 970-925-7184.
