Two years ago, October 2021, two Sherman neighbors – Lisa Caron Hickey and Linda Hubbard – talked about all the wonderful artists that are in Sherman and why don’t we get them together. Six weeks later was the very first Sherman Open Studios.

Now, two years later, there are over 65 members of the Sherman Artists Association, which is now a nonprofit 501C3. In addition to monthly meetings with speakers and great exchanges (6:30 p.m. Second Wednesday of every month at the Sherman Senior Center), the fledgling organization has created a website shermanartists.org that showcases all the members and the events such as ART FEST a summer festival of artists, AUGUST LIGHT a month-long art exhibition at the Kent Art Association, a celebration of Farm Art at the Happy Acres Farm Day and is now celebrating its third Open Studios with even more artists, Dec 2 and Dec. 3.

Lisa has now moved to Vermont, but with technology today, is still the vice president and still creating the Open Studios 2023 brochure, managing the website, etc. There are also many great artists and supporters of this new organization. We are growing and welcome new members and new supporters of our activities….both financial and feet on the ground.

Linda T. Hubbard
President, Sherman Artists Association
