What’s new at the Mu? Stark County Artists Exhibition to debut

Massillon Museum’s annual Stark County Artists Exhibition will open Thursday with a free public reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Awards will be announced at 7 p.m. The exhibition will continue through Jan. 14. 

Highlights

Artwork in any medium was considered. MassMu’s Aultman Health Foundation Gallery will include 75 works of art selected from 221 submitted by 91 artists, 52 of whom are represented in the show. Jurors were Cleveland artist Davon Brantley; Melissa Stallard, associate professor, photography area coordinator of The University of Akron; and Steve Mountz, artist and art instructor from Salem.

They will select artwork to be included in the exhibition, as well as the prizes. Visitors throughout the exhibition will vote for the People’s Choice Award, which will be announced in January.

Artists who will be exhibited are Claire Murray Adams, Rosemary Anderson, Rodney Atwood, Alexia Avdelas, Todd Bergert, Charles Bonakoski, Chris Borello, Lou Camerato, Peter Castillo, Paul B. Codispoti, Therese Cook, Ron Copeland, David L. Dingwell, Laura Donnelly, Tim Eakin, Steve Ehret, Linda Faulkner, Shea Flaherty, Robert Gallik, Timothy Hirst, Bruce Humbert, Christine Janson, David Jentgen, Erika Katherine, Annabelle Kim, Judi Krew, David L. Kuntzman, Susan Kurtz, Ted Lawson, Sam Lilenfield, Amy V. Lindenberger, Sally Priscilla Lytle, Miranda Marsh, Sharon Frank Mazgaj, Susan McClelland, Mal McCrea, Daniel McLaughlin, Jessica Morton, Emily Orsich, Natividad Lopez Ortiz, Patricia Zinsmeister Parker, Mark V. Pitocco, Brian Robinson, Priscilla Roggenkamp, Kathryn Skidmore, Sari Sponhour, Bruce Stebner, Alex Strader, Chad Troyer, Pat Mather Waltz, Jo Westfall and Gail Wetherell-Sack.

The exhibition can be seen 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays; and 2 to 5 p.m. Sundays, except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. A MassMu visit is always free, and everyone is welcome.

Why attend?

The Studio M exhibition, “Bingo, I’m the King, Now!,” featuring ink drawings by Elena Masrour, will open concurrently with the Stark County Artists Exhibition. Visitors can also view the Artwork by Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon, A Way to Win: Paul Brown’s Innovations, the Paul Brown/Massillon Tigers Football History Timeline, Precarious Legacies: Exposures of a Fleeting Landscape, the Immel Circus, the Local History Gallery, Innovators of Massillon, Ethiopian Expedition of 1903, First Peoples of North America and the Albert E. Hise Fine and Decorative Arts Gallery.
