Seventy of Yavapai College’s talented student artists have taken their skills off-campus this Spring, in a stunning exhibition of painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and more. Join us for The Yavapai College Visual Arts Showcase, through May 18, at the Mountain Artists Guild, 228 N. Alarcon Street, in Prescott.

“This showcase is an amazing opportunity for students to participate in an exhibition at a professional gallery space.” Bryan Robertson, Yavapai College’s Visual Arts Department chair, explained. “Students have worked diligently to prepare their pieces for display and consideration for sale, gaining valuable experience in presenting their work to the public.”

The exhibit, which opened in the Guild’s Spotlight #1 room on April 26, is proving an enriching experience for both artists and visitors alike, as the Prescott arts community samples the creative range of YC students expressing themselves in paintings, drawings, digital art, printmaking, watercolors, oils, welded metal sculptures, ceramics, and woodworking.

“Their talent is so beautifully displayed at this Mountain Artists Guild show, ranging from first-semester students to those with years under their belt.” Welded Metal Sculpture instructor Rita Toikka also credits the College’s sophisticated metalwork facilities for supporting the students’ work. “I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and enroll in a class today!”

Founded in 1949 as The Prescott Arts League, The Mountain Artists Guild is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering education and appreciation of the visual arts within our community. The Guild provides a welcoming environment, educational resources, and a vehicle to support artists through education, advocacy and fellowship.

The Mountain Artists Guild is located at 228 N. Alarcon Street, in Prescott. The gallery is open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. For additional information on The Yavapai College Visual Arts Showcase, please visit www.mountainartistsguild.org or call (928) 445-2510.
