European art fair TEFAF opens doors to masterpieces


The European Art Fair, renowned as TEFAF, has opened its doors in the picturesque city of Maastricht, Netherlands.

It offers a captivating showcase of artworks that span centuries and continents. 

From March 9 to March 14, the prestigious art fair has attracted the attention of collectors, enthusiasts and connoisseurs eager to explore an unparalleled array of paintings, sculptures and jewelry.

Amid the stellar ensemble featuring illustrious names like Manet, Rubens and Rodin, the spotlight is on two extraordinary paintings: Vincent van Gogh’s “Tete de pay sanne a la coiffe blanche” and Wassily Kandinsky’s “Murnaumit Kirche II.” 

Van Gogh’s early masterpiece, affectionately known as “Head of an Old Peasant Woman with a White Cap,” hails from 1884 and is presented by M.S. Rau, a prominent gallery based in New Orleans, U.S. 

This timeless piece, which reflects Van Gogh’s distinctive style, is worth 4.5 million euros ($4.9 million).
