Old Master Week

This May, Old Master Week comprises two curated auctions spanning six centuries of art history. The seasonal Old Masters auction and Old Master and European Paintings from a Private Collection — Selling Without Reserve offer a plethora of accessibly priced art for a diverse audience alongside museum-quality masterworks.

Highlights include new discoveries, such as the Saint Jerome by Sir Anthony van Dyck and a long-lost Neptune by Guercino. Other top lots include a scene of winter leisure from Hendrick Barentsz Avercamp, the atmospheric view of Venice by Francesco Guardi, and an elegant portrait by George Romney from the Estate of Carlo Browning and Edmund Wattis Dumke. Netherlandish and Italian Renaissance, Dutch Golden Age, Baroque and 18th-century English and French works are also well-represented. This includes works ranging from a landscape sketch by John Constable, religious iconography such as the Virgin and Child from the workshop of Hans Memling or that by Moretto da Brescia to mythological works by Bellucci, and portraits by Sir Peter Paul Rubens and Pierre Paul Prud’hon.

Explore the auctions in person at our Rockefeller Center galleries from 18–22 May.
