The First Laos-Europe Itinerant Performing Art Festival


 

The first inaugural Laos-Europe Itinerant Performing Art Festival was organised on December 8-10, 2023 in Vientiane.

The festival supported by the European Union in Laos, jointly organised by the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao PDR, FMK International Dance Festival, the event aimed to foster collaboration between visiting European artists and local Lao companies across disciplines such as music, drama, puppetry and contemporary dance.

This unique festival, emphasizing cross-culture dialogue, provided a place for European artist to reinterpret Laos’s classical tales and for French musicians to include a Lao Khene musician in their group.

The festival also took place in various cultural venues across the capital, both indoors and outdoors, including German Embassy to Lao PDR, French Institute of Laos and Fanglao Blackbox. This format allowed the public to attend performances in a variety of settings, enabling artists to express their vision through different formats and locations.
