Seven Thousand Years Of Art At TEFAF

The world’s premier fair for fine art, antiques and design under one roof is coming to the Netherlands this month.

The 2024 edition of TEFAF Maastricht, organized by The European Fine Art Foundation, returns to the Maastricht Exhibition & Conference Centre March 9-14.

This year, the fair will feature 270 of the finest dealers and galleries from 22 countries showcasing works of art “of supreme historical merit” that give private and institutional collectors the opportunity to view and purchase. This is the fair’s 37th year.

In addition, this year, 10 galleries between 3 and 10 years old will get the chance to participate.

“As an organization and arts foundation, TEFAF has always believed in supporting and nurturing young and emerging dealers. With this initiative, participants can present their works at the prestigious TEFAF Maastricht, helping to launch and support their journey in the art fair world,” says Will Korner, head of fairs.

For those who can’t make it to Europe, there’s TEFAF New York, which was launched in 2016. It will take place May 10-14 at the historic Park Avenue Armory. Last year, there were 91 exhibitors.

The exhibit draws a list of recognizable names and faces. Last year, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and Scarlett Johansson were among the attendees.

The 2022 fair in Europe included some intrigue, the likes of which movies are made. Thieves made off with an estimated $25 million in diamonds and the heist was made in broad daylight. It is suspected to have been pulled off by a Balkan Gang known as the “Pink Panthers.”
