The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), the Netherlands-based enterprise, has announced the exhibitor lineup for the first edition of its stateside spring fair.

Having introduced the New York edition last fall with an emphasis on Old Masters and classical art, the upcoming edition of the fair will focus on modern and contemporary design.

It will take place again at the Park Avenue Armory, running from May 4–8, with a VIP preview on May 3. Along with modern and contemporary art, the fair will also showcase jewelry, African and Oceanic art, and antiquities. The roster of 92 dealers is a vibrant mix of TEFAF regulars, such as Axel Vervoordt alongside contemporary powerhouses such as David Zwirner, Lisson, Acquavella and Paul Kasmin, to name just a few.

The same high standards—each object at the fair is individually vetted—that have made TEFAF “a beloved cultural event in Europe” also helped this past fall’s New York fair become a success, pointed out CEO Patrick van Maris. “We are excited to introduce a second fair in New York,” he writes. “Modern and contemporary art have long enjoyed a presence at TEFAF Maastricht, and we are looking forward to celebrating this on a larger scale in the United States.”

Dutch architect Tom Postma will design the fair, adding new design elements that reflect the spring focus on modern and contemporary. Dealers will showcase their wares in the Drill Hall in rooms on the first and second floor of the Armory.

San Francisco dealer Anthony Meier told artnet News he is looking forward to the inaugural fair, citing “an amazing mix of galleries.” The dealer said he plans to have “some stellar works by Judd, Albers, and Richter” to name a few.

Art dealers seem happy with the results. “Everything about [TEFAF New York] was beyond anything we have experienced at  any fairs,” wrote Bernard Goldberg of Bernard Goldberg Fine Arts in an email to artnet News. “We were delighted to be invited again and it is our intention to feature three extraordinary large scale works of Thomas Hart Benton that are fresh to the market.”
