The highly competitive event began with over 33,000 artworks, with only 2,500 advancing to the state.
The State VASE event celebrates the artistic prowess and dedication of Texas art students, teachers, and administrators. It is a testament to the creative genius that thrives in our state.
Aldine ISD had 19 artworks, and 16 high school artists qualified to compete at the State VASE level. The following students earned a 4 Rating (Exemplary rating) at State Vase, earning Medals (eight of the 10 award-winning artworks are displayed).

Jurors from across the United States assess state-qualifying artworks. Student artists who receive a 4 Rating — Exemplary at the State Event are awarded a state medal. The artwork created by these students will be featured on the VASE website.
Artworks receiving a 4 Rating-Exemplary at the State Event are eligible for consideration for the highest honor in VASE, the Gold Seal Medallion (they must earn a 5 Rating when judges consider them for the Gold Seal). The State VASE Jurors select artworks that represent the goals of VASE and exemplary examples of concept, technique, craftsmanship, and creativity in student artwork. Gold Seal Medallion recipients will have their artwork exhibited at various venues across the state. The recognition will culminate with the Gold Seal Exhibition at the annual TAEA Fall Conference. On Saturday, April 27, the opening awards ceremony celebrated 150 students who earned Gold Seal Medallions.
Participating in the State VASE event is about more than just the competition. It’s a chance for students to engage in hands-on workshops, sketching opportunities, and even compete for scholarship money. They also have the chance to receive memorial scholarships and meet with universities for an art portfolio review. This event is a unique platform for art teachers and students to connect, grow artistically, and develop personally.
