Delivery of Artworks All transporting/costs to and from AIBG are the responsibility of the artist. Courier/Post Between 18 – 22 March 2024 ONLY. Artwork delivered to: Australian Inland Botanic Gardens 1183 River Road, Buronga NSW 2648 Postage Sufficient Return Postage MUST accompany all Art & Photography entries sent by post. Category Definitions
Botanical Precise visual representations of plant life, merging scientific accuracy with artistic skill across diverse mediums. These artworks intricately detail plant morphology, emphasising form, colour, and texture, serving scientific, educational, and aesthetic purposes by offering meticulous depictions for study and appreciation. Flora & Fauna Artworks spotlighting either plant life (flora) or animal life (fauna). These pieces celebrate the beauty, diversity, and unique traits of botanical or zoological subjects through various artistic mediums. They aim to educate, intrigue, and aesthetically portray the intricacies of these life forms. Portrait Visual representations, encompassing paintings, drawings, or photographs that capture an individual’s likeness and essence. These artworks convey physical features, personality, and emotions, often revealing character through facial expressions, gestures, and nuanced appearances. Landscape Visual depictions showcasing natural environments, encompassing mountains, valleys, rivers, or any form of geographical location. These artworks capture the essence and beauty of outdoor scenery, employing light, colour, and texture to evoke a sense of place, atmosphere, and emotional resonance. Contemporary Artworks embodying modern expressions, challenging traditional boundaries, and reflecting current cultural, social, or political themes. Utilising diverse mediums and unconventional techniques, they encourage viewer engagement, introspection, and dialogue, mirroring the dynamic and evolving nature of the contemporary world. Macro Photography showcasing subjects at a magnification ratio of at least 1:1, revealing intricate details unseen by the naked eye. These images capture life-sized or larger representations, emphasising fine details, textures, and patterns to offer a highly detailed and enlarged perspective.
Terms and Conditions
Works should NOT have been exhibited at this show previously. GST registered Artists are responsible for their own GST. The entry fee is non-refundable. AIBG Magenta Art Prize reserves the right to refuse entries which do not comply with conditions of entry. Late entries will not be accepted. Artwork to win one prize only Acquisitive Prize The recipient of the acquisitive art prize/s agrees to transfer ownership and rights of the awarded artwork/s to AIBG upon acceptance of the prize. This transfer includes all associated copyrights, allowing AIBG exclusive rights to display, reproduce, and distribute the artwork. The winning artist will be duly credited for their creation in all exhibitions and publications where the artwork is showcased. Presentation All works must arrive ready for display with picture hanging rings and wire attached one third from the top of works. Sale of work All works must be for sale. 20% commission must be included in the sale price. All work must be clearly labelled with artist name, address, title of work, medium and sale price on the back of the artwork. Judging The judges’ decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Copyright Entry will grant AIBG Magenta Art Prize permission to reproduce artworks entered in the show for non-commercial purposes, including the promotion of the Magenta Art Prize. AIBG Magenta Art Prize shall have the right to exhibit the winning entry at such times and at such places and to cause or permit photographs or filming of the work in such newspapers, magazines, catalogue’s (for sale or not) and on all electronic media at such time or times as it may in its discretion determine. All necessary acknowledgments of authorship will be duly made.
