Artist members of the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition are hosting a reception and artist panel on June 26 for their current show at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, 1400 Classen Drive.
The reception for the OVAC Members Show, which is held in partnership with the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. that day. The panel will focus on “Alternative Marketing Strategies for Artists” and features moderator Fernando Calvillo of OVAC; local artists Rachele Cromer and Jared Power; and marketing strategist Vilona Michael.
The exhibition celebrates the transformative role of the arts in communities, and the show includes 61 works in a variety of media from 52 emerging talents and established artists, as a news release stated.

OVAC is a nonprofit organization that supports visual artists living and working in Oklahoma. It also promotes public interest in the arts. OVAC offers opportunities to apply for grants and professional development like workshops and public shows.

New art in Norman
The Norman Arts Council is also hosting three exhibitions at its MAINSITE Contemporary Art Gallery, 122 E Main.
These exhibits opened this week with a reception and will be on display through July 11:
- “Religious But Not Spiritual by Curtis Jones”
- “Draw Near” by Rachel Beer
- “Emotions in Motion” by ThruMyEyez.
The closing reception will be from 6 to 9 p.m. July 11, during the 2nd Friday Norman Art Walk.
Jones is an artist and educator teaches printmaking at the University of Oklahoma. Beer is a visual artist and educator from central Oklahoma who is currently based in Lawrence, Kansas. ThruMyEyez uses bright colors, characters and storytelling to communicate and bring emotions to life

An Oklahoma Opry anniversary
The Oklahoma Opry is hosting its 48th anniversary show on June 26 at Oklahoma Ranch, 425 Kings of Leon Lane, in Oklahoma City’s Bricktown District.
The show includes a variety of performers, including notable fiddler Kyle Dillingham, banjo player Lucas Ross, trick roper Daniel Mac and hosted by Owen Pickard. Other performers include Alaska Rayne Holloway, Ross Clayton, Chase and Emily McCumber, Kyle Earhart, Amanda Earhart, Randy Whittern, Jarrid Matlock, Tammy Brasier, The McLaughlin Brothers, Tara Bussing, Dustin Jones and Cindy Scarberry.
Tickets are $48 in honor of the anniversary. The VIP reception starts at 6 p.m., followed by the show at 7 p.m. To attend and for more information, go to ohfo.org
