The Late Show With Stephen Colbert is spending the week broadcasting live from the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago this week to coincide with the 2024 Democratic National Convention. Chicago’s own Chance The Rapper served as the musical guest last night.

Chance The Rapper performed his new single “Together” live on Colbert to end the episode on Wednesday. The Chicago MC was surrounded by stylized blackboards which visual artist Slang used as a canvas to draw on while Chance The Rapper performed.

“Together” is featured on Chance The Rapper’s forthcoming Star Line project. A release date for the long-awaited follow-up to 2019’s The Big Day has not been announced.

Chance The Rapper recently estimated he was 83% done with Star Line. “We’re living in the project right now,” the Chicago native told Complex back in June when giving the super specific figure. “The thing is, no one has the attention span for what the conversation needs to be. So I’m piecing it together, I’m living in it with my fans, with the new artists I come in contact with.”

Chance The Rapper is joined on the studio version of “Together” by legendary turntablist DJ Premier. “This is a song about housing justice painted with nostalgia. I hope the memories can elevate the core message rather than bury it,” Chance stated of the track upon its release.
