Dentist was a big supporter of visual artists at Aquinas High School | Obituaries








Dr. Janice Lemann

Janice Lemann was born in Beaumont, California, and lived in Redlands. She died from cancer on Aug. 6. She was 67.

Lemann attended private Seventh Day Academy schools across California before graduating from Loma Linda Academy. She studied at San Bernardino Valley College and received a BA in Medical Illustrating from La Sierra University. She achieved her Doctorate degree in Dental Science from Loma Linda University. She also earned the status of Diplomate within the American Board of Forensic Odontology.

For over three decades, Dr. Lemann worked in the fields of general and cosmetic dentistry in San Bernardino County. She served as the chief dental forensic odontologist for Riverside and San Bernardino Counties as well as deputy chief forensic odontologist for San Diego County.

Dr. Janice had an interest in the arts and art realism. She attended evening classes and weekend workshops to learn new skills. One skill was PhotoShop, which she used to create reports for the coroner’s office.

Dr. Lemann was president of the advisory board supporting the Fullerton Museum (RAFFMA) at California State University, San Bernardino.

Bill and Janice Lemann were married on December 31, 1999.

Dr. Janice worked with young artists at Aquinas High School through the Visual Arts program. She developed a Visual Arts Center, in collaboration with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and Shea Charities, which is set to open in 2023.

An official dedication ceremony and memorial mass will be held in October, inviting friends and the public to celebrate Dr. Janice’s contributions to art education and the community.

Dr. Lemann is survived by her husband, Wilfrid “Bill” Lemann, her sister, Dr. Kathleen Johnson, brother-in-law Dr. Ron Johnson, who supervised her medical care, nephews Nicolas Johnson and Chris Walling, and the many nieces and cousins of the Lemann family.

A funeral mass took place on Monday, Aug. 14, at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, contributions in Lemann’s memory may be made to the Janice Lemann Memorial Art Scholarship at Aquinas High School. For further details, please contact the school at 909-886-4659.
