While the Friday after Thanksgiving might belong to big businesses and big deals, small businesses have marked Saturday as their chance to save holiday shoppers another trip to the mall.

This year, Solano communities are making it easy to shop local on Small Business Saturday with downtown vendor markets taking place in both Fairfield and Vacaville.

The City of Fairfield is partnering with Boss Con to host a vendor market pop-up downtown on Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m. Shoppers can enjoy the festive, energetic atmosphere of the pop-up while also sampling downtown Fairfield’s array of food, shopping, and other activities as they check off the items on their gift list.

In Vacaville, Uptown Fox and OnStage Vacaville will host their inaugural Small Business Saturday Vendor Fair and Art Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature 25 local vendors selling handmade and custom items at Journey’s Downtown theater and coffee shop where shoppers can also purchase food and drinks amid their spree. Just next door at The Library, the Art Market will display works from visual artists that will be available for purchase.

Aside from shopping local, attendees can support their community by participating in a raffle drawing benefitting OnStage Vacaville’s mission to present quality arts and culture in Vacaville. The items raffled off will be donated by artists and vendors.

Admission is free and the event will take place rain or shine.

Street parking will be available on the blocks surrounding the event. A free public parking lot is located one block away on the corner of Main and Cernon Streets (in front of Maximum Fitness).

Journey Downtown is located at 308 Main St., Vacaville. Dogs are permitted in the outside portion of the event so long as they are on a leash and well-behaved. Street parking will be available on the blocks surrounding the event. A free public parking lot is located one short block away on the corner of Main and Cernon Streets (in front of Maximum Fitness).
