Fine artist from KaMagugu captures life on canvas

Luyanda Nkosi (29) is a fine artist painting life’s moments as they happen.

She is an art enthusiast and hopes to create a market for her art in Mbombela, to make a living.

She said she has always found comfort in creating paintings that are unique and showcasing her talent and love of it. “I enjoyed art in high school and studied visual arts and design. It was not difficult to find my way into the art world, because even my teachers could see how well I could do it. Although paintings are usually created to express feelings or experiences, I just love sitting down and painting whatever comes to mind.”

Nkosi showcases some of her paintings at local markets in Mbombela. Mpumalanga News recently spotted her stall at a market at the Colonel’s Leopard Lounge, where she was busy painting as well.

“I started to show my art not so long ago, so that art lovers could get to know me and my work better. I hope I will finally get to showcase my art in galleries all over South Africa, which would be my biggest dream achieved.”

Nkosi said she is furthering her studies in graphic design and photography, to incorporate this into her fine artistry with the aim of growing a brand in the art industry. “The goal is to have my own gallery that will include young and upcoming fine artists. Another goal is to establish an art school to nurture and encourage young people in Mbombela,” she said.
