Houghton to showcase installation by United Visual Artists and Robert Del Naja

This interactive installation uses real-time data to express contemporary issues through visual and sonic elements.

Houghton Festival, devised by Craig Richards, will unfold from August 8th-11th at Houghton Hall, Norfolk. This year’s highlight is ‘Present Shock II’, an innovative installation by United Visual Artists (UVA) and Robert Del Naja.

‘Present Shock II’, situated in The Warehouse, uses real-time data to spark conversations on our contemporary world. The sonic aspect, shaped by Del Naja and Robert Thomas, complements the visual display of algorithmically curated news headlines and global data.

The installation showcases UVA’s evolution in real-time data installations initially developed with Del Naja. The audio system, co-created by Del Naja and Thomas, leverages The Warehouse’s ‘d&b Soundscape’ for an immersive auditory experience.

The UVA installation will coincide with the Houghton Festival, enabling attendees to explore the sculpture garden at Houghton Hall. This year, the garden features Antony Gormley’s ‘Time Horizon’, an installation of 100 life-size, cast-iron sculptures scattered across the 300-acre park.
