A native artist of the village of Wellington is donating a drawing which depicts Wellington’s Town Hall, during a public event Dec. 3.
Scott Marion, who now lives in Vermilion, grew up in Wellington and is a graduate of Wellington High School.
“Wellington is the home of my greatest memories and harshest challenges,” said Marion, 50. “That fact that the town wants my work to hang there, is an honor.”
Marion’s drawing of the Wellington Town Hall, is entitled “44090” which ironically is the area’s zip code.
“I grew up in Wellington, and not only do I have precious memories in and around the Town Hall, but also when it comes to unique, stand out buildings, it’s a great one to choose to draw,” said Marion of his decision to choose the historic building.
After graduating from high school, Marion attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, majoring in visual communications.
Artistically, Marion specializes in use of mixed media which includes graphite, ink, marker and colored pencils.
His work is known for its photo-realism as he combines a variety of mediums to create a style of his own called “Hyper-Surrealism.”
Marion’s work has been featured in his own gallery shows as well as in print.
Although the bulk of Marion’s art work has been portraits, he recently expanded his works to include landscapes and architecture.
Marion’s artistic journey also has lead him to embark on a new project, authoring a graphic novel titled, “The Thirst.”
“I’m giving this piece to the town because it is a way to leave a little piece of me behind,” he said. “I’ve been fortunate to have many adventures in my life, and I hope for those to continue, but hitting the mid-century mark is not only an accomplishment, but also a time to reflect.”
The event will take place at the Village’s Town Hall beginning at 5 p.m.
The public is invited.
