PHILIPPI — Strollers will once again come to Philippi to celebrate the talents of local and regional artists on Friday, May 2 from 5-8 p.m. for the annual Philippi Art Stroll.
Approximately 20 locations will be exhibiting visual arts while 14 locations will be featuring live music. Art Stroll locations will run south from the BC Historical Museum through downtown Philippi to Freedom Bank. Strollers will know which businesses are exhibit sites by the “participant” signs at each location.
This year’s theme “Reflecting on the Tygart” will be highlighted by numerous pictures of the river throughout the Art Stroll locations.
This year’s rack card publicizing the event, distributed throughout NCWV, also features the river in its design. Former Philippi resident Priscilla Serafin continues to design the rack card for her home town even though her graphic design business is in the Boston area.
Besides the visual and musical talents on display at the Stroll, fabric art will also be showcased by the Eye of the Needle Quilting Group. This group of quilters has been exhibiting many of their award-winning quilts with the Art Stroll for several years.
Once again this year, the quilts will be exhibited in the Market Place.
“We invite everyone to join the hundreds of anticipated strollers in town the evening of Friday, May 2 from 5-8 p.m. While in town, strollers are encouraged to stop in one of the eateries while they meander through town and enjoy the varied talents of our local and regional artists,” said a Philippi Main Street spokesperson.
